Hi everyone!!
Sorry I haven’t written in a long time. I have not forgot about the updates, but between rehabbing and vacationing I had to take a little break. I do appreciate everyone sending me letters and cards, thank you all so much. Well, where do I begin? I am about 3 months post operation and my doctor says it is looking great. It will take some time but I should make a full recovery. My scar is about 3 inches long and at this point you can barely notice it. I have had to work on getting some muscle back into my left thigh and left calf. I still am working very hard on that, but we have progressed into balancing exercises. I still lack strength and stability in the leg, but I am starting to walk without the boot, which is removable. I can’t take a long stride and am only wearing running shoes, but it is ok. I am glad that I got rid of the crutches since Matt and I took a 8 day vacation to Hawaii. We had a great time as we spent most of the time visiting with family and going on an eating safari with my father. We can’t wait to go back, we loved it! By the way it was our first break together in 2 years, woo hoo!!
Now, we are preparing for 1. the holidays and 2. to get Matt back to Florida for Spring training. He feels good and can’t wait to start with his new team, I am very excited too.
Onto other exciting news, this weekend Kerri and I were part of a superstar cast that was shooting a Super Bowl commercial for Gatorade. It was such a fun shoot and to be surrounded by the other athletes involved was an honor. We will be having 2 Gatorade ads coming out, but this one will air during the Super Bowl. I think it is funny and hope that you all will like it and enjoy it as much as I did. So now I am just hoping that the weather will subside for a while allowing me to get back from Boston to Long Beach. Thanks again for all of your support.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!
-Misty

Happy belated New Year! You and your husband look great in your new pic. It’s great hearing from you. I hope the rumors are true that abc will invite you back to DWTS. Hopefully for season 8 so you have more time to recuperate. Wishing you all the best.

Hi, Misty.
Glad to hear your rehab is coming along nicely. We enjoyed see you and Kerry live in Santa Barbara last year and can’t wait to see you play again. I love all the instructional videos on your site. I want to view the setting one but it seems there is a problem with the link…we keep getting error messages.
Happy new year!

So sorry about your foot. You are my absolute favorite athlete and I can’t wait for your come back on Dancing with the Stars! Shortly after your injury I tore my left Achilles playing soccer. I had surgery Nov. 14th and got my cast off a week early due to the holidays. It will be 8 weeks Friday and I still need a crutch. I have been an active individual my whole life and this is killing me. My husband is officially domesticated and the kids and I love it ;o) lol. Do you have any word of wisdom during these trying times?
Take Care and have a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Now I have another reason to look forward to the Superbowl. It’s great hearing from you again Misty. Don’t worry about the updates, you just enjoy your time with your husband and recuperate. It sounds like you“ll be back in dancing form in no time. Dancing With The Stars, watch out!

Dear Misty,
How are things going? How is your recovery going? I am a big fan of yours and Kerri. Every time that the both of you are on TV I always watch. You and Kerri are the best number one team in the world. I have a feeling that if you and Kerri play in the 2012 you could win the gold again. That is good that you got to take a vacation to Hawaii. What island did you go to?
Hope all is well with you. Aloha Christine

Dear Misty,
I have always been a big fan of you and Kerri Walsh. Every time that I watch you 2 on TV I am always cheering for you 2. I like it a lot when you 2 smash the team that you are playing against. You and Kerri Walsh will always be my favorite team. When you do play against a team I would like you to smash that team with a score of 25 0. I hope that your recovery is going well. That is nice that you got to go to Hawaii. What island did you go to? Hope all is well. Aloha Christine

Misty! Torn achilles sucks, I have suffered two of them! one playing volleyball, one playng softball. The surgery works and the scars will fade, and the only residual problems i have are occasional calf cramps if i’m not vigilant about stretching pre and post workout. The rehab takes forever, but i can offer the advice of don’t push it! swimming was also great for me, using the kickboard helped a lot. Stay Cool!

Hello Misty,
I accidentally found your website for the first time today because I was looking for inspirational photos online to put on my wall as I continue to play and train for my competition goals this coming year! :) Obviously it doesn’t get more inspirational than what I saw this past Olympics! Hope you recover quickly and that you have a wonderful holiday! :)
Warm Regards,

Misty I am glad you were able to take a vacation with your husband and enjoy yourself. I am sure it was much needed. It sounds like your rehab is going well. I know its hard but be patient. You definately want everything to heal well. I am glad to hear Matt was picked up. I know he has a love for his sport just as you do. Tell him we are all happy for him. Since I am a huge football fan I will definately watch for your commercial. How funny was it seeing Walshy with her little baby belly? I really want to thank you for responding to my daughter and mine Christmas gift. It really made both of our day when we came home and got that in the mail! If your not sure which one of many we were we sent gifts to your puppies. LOL! Yes we were that crazy family! Anyhow I hope you have a wonderfull Christmas and a great New Year! Lots of love to you and Matt and the pups!Patti | on 21/12/08

Checked out your site because I was interested in your injury. I ruptured my achilles and had a tendon transfer. They took the tendon from the big toe and attached it from just below the calf muscle and attached it to the heel bone. I am presently in a hard cast. I was told I would probably be able to start running in about 3 months. I now do not believe that. Laying around the house with my leg elevated all the time sucks for a guy that is used to being very active.
